Welcome to the Sunshine State

Well, here I am! I drove the 12 hours down to Jacksonville, FL (with a brief layover at Larry's house!) last Wed-Fri. Upon arrival, I met up with my teammates for the first time since summer training. This weekend, we have spent a lot of time getting to know each other better. We started meetings to plan the year and it looks like we'll be busy! I started to meet some of the student leaders as they have trickled in to Jacksonville--they're great and I'm really excited to get to know them better as we work together on campus. I went down to the beach briefly--the sand is white and beautiful and the water is warm, all very different from Delaware where I've usually gone before. I have also met several of the families from the local parish. They are really hospitable and welcoming and have helped us all feel at home.

Cynthia and I get to move into our apartment later today! It will be really nice to settle in and get everything set up. We've been sleeping at a family's house for a few days and practically living at the guys' apartment during the day.

Pray for us as we all get ready for the school year and reach out to the new freshmen next week! I'll keep you all posted and try and put some pictures up soon.

Yay! I'm glad things are going well so far! I ran into Helen and her team the other day at Mass at the Shrine - I was so excited! I also ran into Bree there yesterday...we were both so surprised! God is good!

This whole thing must be a wee bit overwhelming for you! Anyway, that's how I always feel with new things. In prayer about "new things" I came to reflect on Our Lord's words, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." We may feel like we don't know which way to go, or the truth of some matter, or where our life is going, but Jesus is there, "Lo, I am with you even until the end of the age."
In Christ, michele
