Help Wanted

As I have been raising support for my mission work the last few weeks, I tend to get some of the same questions over and over, here are some of the answers:

Why do you raise your own support?
I raise my own support for several reasons. As many ministries have discovered, it is more efficient and successful to raise support individually than as a non-profit organization when there are over a hundred missionaries to support. Plus, it gives me a whole group of people who are dedicated financially (and hopefully through their prayers as well) to my ministry through FOCUS. I have found that it also helps me to be more humble and to trust in God for my needs. Having the support of a community back at home that believes in what I’m doing is really encouraging, and I need that prayer base in order to combat the obstacles to ministry on a large secular campus.

What are the benefits of supporting you?
God promises to bless those who tithe and/or give generously to others. In the Bible, it’s the only time He says to test Him on one of His promises. Instead of giving to a general organization, I will keep in touch with you and send newsletters and updates about how my personal ministry is progressing. Also, FOCUS missionaries tithe their time—I pray for my ministry partners every day and if you send me special intentions I’m more than happy to pray for them specifically. For some, giving is a way for them to support an organization they wish was around when they were in college or it encourages them to support this mission if people they know have left the faith in college. Remember, God will never be outdone in generosity! [Plus, all donations are tax-deductible, so Uncle Sam will bless your generosity too.]

Where does the money go?
It all directly enables me to do my mission work. I raise 100% f my own supprt. I pay for my own food, housing, utility, travel, insurance, and daily living costs. The monthly bills are those of a 1st world country, so unfortunately I need more than I would if I was ministering to people in a 3rd world country.

What are your specific needs?
I need about 40-50 donors willing to give $50-100 in monthly support to be a financial foundation for my ministry work, though of course any amount is helpful and much appreciated. I also am trying to figure out transportation right now since I don’t have a reliable car. If you or someone you know may be interested in donating a car (tax-deductible) please contact me asap (kmulhern@focusonline.org). Maybe I’ll just get really good at biking…we’ll see.

Why do you ask especially for monthly donations?
Because my bills come in monthly and it’s helpful to know that a sufficient amount is coming into my account to pay them each month.

How else can I be of assistance?
Let me know if you know anyone who may be interested in hearing more about my ministry with FOCUS and exploring the opportunity to join my support team!

I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you all have any other questions and I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability!

Hi there--it looks like you're ready to do some great work! I wish I could have experienced this, but God had other plans.

Best of luck!
